We can’t do it alone – especially when tracing our ancestral roots!  So here are a few websites/links/resources that I have found helpful.  Please be advised, that some of these sites do have membership fees to utilize their services.  The ones that I am including on this page I find well worth the cost.

www.ancestry.com: One of the most popular, if not THE most popular, genealogy research sites around today.  It was the first place I went when starting my research and has been an immeasurable help in organizing my family history info and connecting with others.  They typically offer specials for those who’d like to try their services before signing up.  I would definitely recommend looking into this further.

https://familysearch.org/:  If finances do not permit you to utilize websites that have fees attached, then I recommend checking out Family Search.  You can search their plethora of records for free.  Some of the images require that you register, which is still free! I have found this site extremely helpful, especially when I get hit a brick wall during my research.

www.newspapers.com:  Such a helpful site.  The magnitude of newspaper records, obituaries and other historical documents has helped me find connections and breakthroughs that seemed impossible a year ago.  There is a fee to use the site but the benefits outweigh the cost.

If you have other suggestions, please let me know.
